Building a lead gen business from zero means building everything from zero. No existing brand. No inherited audience. No domain authority. No traffic. Nothing.
The market is crowded with lead gen operators who run the same playbook — generic landing pages, aggressive paid media, low-quality volume. CrocoDeal needed to be different. The brand had to feel credible and distinctive from day one. The platform had to be engineered for conversion, not just traffic. And the organic strategy had to be built into the foundations so the business isn't permanently dependent on paid spend to survive.
The other challenge was more personal: proving that the same thinking I've applied to brands like King Price, Discovery, and OUTsurance works just as well when the budget is my own and the risk sits with me.
Brand identity
CrocoDeal needed a name and a look that sticks. In a space full of forgettable names and template brands, I wanted something with personality — bold enough to be memorable, sharp enough to be taken seriously. The brand identity was designed to feel confident and slightly irreverent, standing out in a category that defaults to safe and corporate.
Web design and development
The website was designed and built to do one thing exceptionally well: convert visitors into leads. Every page, every flow, and every interaction was designed with conversion architecture in mind — not as an afterthought, but as the core design principle.
The site was developed on a no-code platform, giving me full control over the design fidelity, the user experience, and the speed of iteration. No dev dependency. No waiting for deployments. When something needs to change, it changes the same day.
SEO and GEO strategy
This is where things get interesting. CrocoDeal's organic strategy was built using the same unified SEO, GEO, and AEO framework I apply to client work — but with the freedom to go deeper and move faster because there's no approval chain.
The content architecture is designed to capture high-intent search traffic and funnel it into conversion pages. GEO-optimised content ensures CrocoDeal is structured for AI citability — so when someone asks an AI assistant for lead generation services, the brand has the entity signals to show up. This is the long game, and it's been built into the platform from the first page.
Every other project in this portfolio is something I built for a client. CrocoDeal is something I built for myself. That distinction matters. When you're spending your own money, making your own calls, and living with your own decisions — the standard goes up. There's no client to blame if the conversion rate is low. There's no brief to hide behind if the brand doesn't land. Every choice is mine, and every result is on me. CrocoDeal is 18 years of digital experience distilled into a single venture — brand, design, UX, development, SEO, and GEO all applied by the person who's been doing it for South Africa's biggest names. Same brain. Different brief.
Final Thoughts
CrocoDeal is launching soon. When it does, this page will be updated with real performance data — traffic, leads, conversion rates, and organic growth numbers. No vanity metrics. Just the stuff that actually matters.
In the meantime, this project is proof of something I believe deeply: the best way to show a client what you can do is to show them what you've built when nobody was watching.
Next projects.
